Britney Spears Burned Through Tons Of Cash

During Britney's highly publicized meltdown over the past few years, the starlet went on a hellacious spending spree that took quite a toll on her bank account. In Touch is reporting that the pop star's father, Jamie Spears, has been making sense of his daughter's finances and realized that since February 2007, approximately $61 million has been lost.

Contributing factors include Britney's massive health bills for her psychiatric care, as well as her multiple trips to expensive rehab facilities as well as the enormous tab she accumulated during her divorce from K-Fed and other legal snafus. When you combine these costs with the fact that she's been unable to tour in order to recuperate her losses.

A source revealed to the magazine, "It's staggering how much money has been used up." That said, however, Britney's situation does seem to be improving as a result of her father's involvement. Jamie has hired his own accountants and Britney's spending is being kept in check. The tipster said of Britney, "She's spending about a fifth of what she used to."
